Zero Knowledge Proof and ethical dilemma

The Ethical Dilemma of ZKP Technology

We have successfully completed the custom ZKP (Zero-Knowledge Proof) technique that we previously announced, and we have also finished developing our messaging application using this technology. The product is almost ready (except for the design?let?s say for now, the application is functional, but its design is quite primitive).

The Dilemma: Absolute Anonymity vs. Ethical Responsibility

We are now facing a dilemma. In the messaging system we developed, not only your messages but also you, yourself, will be 100% anonymous. No one, including us, will ever be able to read your messages. Let me take it one step further: no one will even know who you are. If someone attempts to steal your messages, even with the power of supercomputers, it might take them a lifetime to decode. They won?t even know what they have stolen?perhaps they have intercepted a random "LOL" you sent.

Why Did We Build This?

Our motivation stemmed from how popular messaging applications fail to protect user data, leading to massive leaks. Additionally, some of them (I won?t name names to avoid trouble) engage in eavesdropping and even analyze every message you write to serve targeted ads.

The Ethical Dilemma

The real issue is this: We are unsure who will end up using our application. Because of its absolute anonymity, it could also be exploited by illegal organizations or individuals. As a result, things we never intended to be a part of may emerge.

Yes, we are fully aware that people can already access anything they want, by any means necessary. But this messaging application we are about to launch is only a small piece of a much bigger picture.

So, Where Do We Draw the Ethical Line?

The ethical implications of ZKP put us at a crossroads.

What do you think? We truly value every opinion.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
